Baseball Recap: Scholars Guild Academy Wins Going Away Against Skipstone Academy

Scholars Guild Academy got themselves on the board against Skipstone Academy on Thursday, but Skipstone Academy never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Skipstone Academy Warriors with a sharp 15-0 victory.

Will Pittman and Ty Newton made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Pittman pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Newton pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024. At bat, Pittman scored four runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Newton scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Pittman is becoming a predictor of Scholars Guild Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-6 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Jacob Chupp was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Rumble, who scored four runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

Scholars Guild Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Skipstone Academy only posted an OBP of .294.

Scholars Guild Academy's record now sits at 5-6. As for Skipstone Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Looking ahead, Scholars Guild Academy will host The King's Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The King's Academy will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Skipstone Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge Lafayette Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
