Halifax is 2-8 against Susquenita since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Halifax Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Susquenita Blackhawks at 7:30 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Halifax has struggled recently with 16 defeats in a row, while Susquenita will arrive with three straight victories.
Last Wednesday, Halifax had to suffer through a rough 56-26 loss at the hands of Biglerville. While losing is never fun, Halifax can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 444th, while Biglerville is ranked 200th).
Halifax's defeat came about despite a quality game from Lily Crum, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds and three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for her. Ava Savage was another key contributor, scoring two points along with 19 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Halifax were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Susquenita was able to grind out a solid victory over Upper Dauphin Area on Thursday, taking the game 34-27.
Halifax bumped their record down to 0-5 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.5 points per game. As for Susquenita, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Halifax was dealt a bruising 60-28 loss at the hands of Susquenita in their previous matchup back in January. Thankfully for Halifax, Samantha Wechsler (who scored 14 points along with eight steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
