Basketball Game Preview: Quincy Trojans vs. East Nicolaus Spartans

The Quincy Trojans will head out on the road to take on the East Nicolaus Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Quincy will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Quincy is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Hamilton: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Quincy blew Hamilton out of the water with a 63-13 final score. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 22 points or more this season.

Shelby Nussle was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 18 points and 15 boards. That's the most rebounds she has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hana Hostetter, who scored 19 points.

Quincy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, East Nicolaus hadn't done well against Pierce recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. East Nicolaus escaped with a win against Pierce by the margin of a single free throw, 46-45. Winning may never get old, but the Spartans sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

East Nicolaus' win came from a few key players Quincy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Makinze Massey, who had 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Hall, who earned 13 points.

Quincy pushed their record up to 19-5 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 32.8 points. As for East Nicolaus, their record now sits at 17-11.

Quincy came up short against East Nicolaus in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 42-34. Can Quincy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
