Granite Hills is 1-9 against Silverado since March of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Cougars will head out on the road to take on the Hawks at 3:15 p.m. Granite Hills is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Granite Hills will bounce into Wednesday's contest after beating Barstow, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Cougars came out on top against the Aztecs by a score of 6-1 on Friday. The victory was nothing new for the Cougars as they're now sitting on three straight.
Kaleb Kutz was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Travon Jackson Jr, who went 3-for-4 with one double.
Meanwhile, while Silverado put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Victor Valley. The Hawks walked away with a 5-0 win over the Jackrabbits. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hawks.
Not much got past Jace Weiss, who gave up just four hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Victor Valley off the board. Weiss also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Silverado is 4-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-5 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Silverado saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Pauling, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Pauling also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season.
Silverado now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Granite Hills, their record is now 11-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Granite Hills has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Silverado struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Granite Hills came up short against Silverado in their previous meeting back in March, falling 12-7. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
