ROWVA/Williamsfield's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Peoria Heights as they made off with a 15-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won 11 matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Brody Lytle made a splash while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Drake DeJaynes, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Owens, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
ROWVA/Williamsfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Abingdon/Avon didn't have quite enough to beat Seymour on Thursday and fell 4-3.
Owen Timmons was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
ROWVA/Williamsfield's record is now 20-11. As for Abingdon/Avon, their loss dropped their record down to 17-6.
ROWVA/Williamsfield might still be hurting after the 14-3 defeat they got from Abingdon/Avon when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
