The Foothill Cougars suffered their closest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They fell just short of Chico by a score of 61-58. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Foothill in their matchups with Chico: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Foothill still got an impressive performance from Kalli Smith, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Smith scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Sedlak, who scored 15 points along with two blocks.
Foothill's loss dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Chico, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season.
Foothill will head out on the road to face off against Red Bluff at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Chico, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pleasant Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Pleasant Valley comes in on five and Chico on three.
