The Miramonte Matadors had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They came out on top against Clayton Valley Charter by a score of 54-43. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Miramonte also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Karena Eberts was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 30 points and ten rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Miramonte's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maegan Eichenberger, who scored eight points along with five steals.
Despite the loss, Clayton Valley Charter saw an underclassman step up: Ella Scott scored seven points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Scott is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last eight games she's played. Giana Marcantonio was another key contributor, scoring three points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Clayton Valley Charter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Miramonte only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
Miramonte is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. As for Clayton Valley Charter, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-7 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Miramonte will challenge Mt. Diablo at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Clayton Valley Charter, they will head out on the road to face off against Ygnacio Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ygnacio Valley is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54 points per game.
