Steele Canyon is on a three-game streak of home wins, while West Hills is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Cougars will welcome the Wolf Pack at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Steele Canyon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Steele Canyon needed a bit of extra time to put away Santana. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Sultans.

Hunter Haase tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Steele Canyon is 5-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 7-12 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Jonah Arens was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Gavin Caha was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Steele Canyon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 12.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Hills). They blew past El Cajon Valley 33-4 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Wolf Pack, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Carson-Kai Lewis was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in six of his eight plate appearances with five runs and four RBI. Those five runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joey Monetti, who went 6-for-8 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those six hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gage Chambers, who went 2-for-5 with six RBI and three runs.
Steele Canyon is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for West Hills, their win bumped their record up to 15-11.
Everything went Steele Canyon's way against West Hills in their previous matchup back in April, as Steele Canyon made off with a 13-6 victory. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Wolf Pack have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
