It was a good run, but the West Vikings unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell to Burroughs 48-44. While losing is never fun, West can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 555th, while Burroughs is ranked 167th).
West lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Mikayla Villalobos, who scored 18 points along with four steals. The game was Villalobos' eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Iyanna King mathews, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
West's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Burroughs, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2.
West won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Garfield at 12:30 p.m. on December 28th. Burroughs won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Glendora at 3:30 p.m. on December 28th. Averaging 61.6 so far this season, Glendora's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Burroughs better be ready for a challenge.
