Fall River put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Weed 64-29 at home. The win was all the more spectacular given Fall River's disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 398th, while Weed is ranked 186th).
Fall River's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mylah Darnell, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Darnell has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Reese Cassity, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Etna suffered their biggest loss since December 2, 2023 on Tuesday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (54-32), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.
Fall River's victory bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Etna, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
Everything went Fall River's way against Etna in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as Fall River made off with a 58-37 win. With Fall River ahead 40-15 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
