Two dominant players in Taylor Rae Jones and Kendall Kitchen are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Williamson Warriors will head out on the road to take on the Canton Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Williamson's defense has only allowed 29.2 points per game this season, so Canton's offense will have their work cut out for them.
Williamson posted their biggest victory since December 8, 2023 on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Sayre as Williamson made off with a 38-15 victory. Given Williamson's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 274th, while Sayre is ranked 665th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Williamson found their leader in underclassman Kenna Thomas, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds. Madisen Jones was another key contributor, scoring five points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Canton came up short against Wellsboro on Wednesday and fell 35-28. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Canton in their matchups with Wellsboro: they've now lost three in a row.
Canton's loss came about despite a quality game from Kitchen, who scored 16 points along with six steals. That was a full 57.1% of Canton's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daveian Crowley, who scored four points.
The win was the third in a row for Williamson, bringing their record for this year to 10-2. As for Canton, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-8.
Williamson came up short against Canton in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 47-42. Thankfully for Williamson, Molly Ward (who scored four points along with 16 rebounds and six steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
