Newbury Park and Agoura are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Newbury Park Panthers will be playing at home against the Agoura Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Newbury Park and four for Agoura.
Newbury Park suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Monday. They fell just short of Oaks Christian by a score of 43-41. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Newbury Park has scored all season.
Despite their loss, Newbury Park saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kimiko Carmer, who scored 11 points along with nine steals, was perhaps the best of all. Carmer is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kierabella Coletta-Todd, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds.
Agoura suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Monday. They were dealt a 80-15 loss at the hands of Westlake. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Agoura in their matchups with Westlake: they've now lost five in a row.
Newbury Park's loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-4. As for Agoura, they bumped their record down to 1-22 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road.
Everything came up roses for Newbury Park against Agoura in their previous matchup two weeks ago as the team secured a 59-14 win. With Newbury Park ahead 43-3 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
