The El Rancho Dons were the 58-42 winner over the La Mirada Matadores when they last played one another back in December of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. El Rancho fell just short of La Mirada by a score of 52-49.
Despite the defeat, El Rancho saw an underclassman step up: Emery Riker dropped a double-double on 29 points and 26 rebounds. The match was Riker's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Carissa Basurto, who scored six points along with 21 rebounds and six steals.
Even though they lost, El Rancho were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 29 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
El Rancho's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for La Mirada, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.
El Rancho and Orange will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
