The Nevada Union Miners won the last time they faced the Rio Americano Raiders, and things went their way on Friday too. Nevada Union came out on top against Rio Americano by a score of 50-40. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Nevada Union.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Nevada Union to victory, but perhaps none more so than Angelica Kinney, who scored 13 points. Kinney continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Enos, who scored 13 points.
Rio Americano's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Katie Ghazanfari, who scored 11 points. Ghazanfari scored a full 27.5% of Rio Americano's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Brianna St. Jean, who scored 10 points.
The victory got Nevada Union back to even at 3-3. As for Rio Americano, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
Nevada Union will head out on the road to face off against Stevenson at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Stevenson is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Rio Americano, they will be playing at home against Pajaro Valley at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Pajaro Valley comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
