It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the San Jacinto Tigers can now relate to. They were outmatched by Orange Vista at home and fell 49-17. San Jacinto's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
San Jacinto's lost on Friday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Malachi Brown, who rushed for 144 yards and a touchdown. Brown was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 53 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Dillon Gresham, who gained 83 total yards and a touchdown.
Orange Vista's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Khalil Abdul-aziz, who threw for 240 yards and five touchdowns on only 17 passes. Sire Gaines was another key contributor, rushing for 168 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.0 yards per carry.
San Jacinto's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Orange Vista, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3.
San Jacinto does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Orange Vista will look to defend their home field on Friday against Western at 7:00 p.m. Western is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
