Basketball Recap: Monache Drops Season-High Score on El Diamante

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Monache). They blew past the El Diamante Miners 75-27 on Tuesday. Given the Marauders' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Miners are ranked 258th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Milly Rojas continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 22 points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in assists (eight). Kyah Bartlett was another key player, going 5 for 11 on her way to 13 points in addition to five boards and five steals.

Monache was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Several Miners players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rian Jones-Dillihunt, who posted 14 points and eight boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelina Morales, who had three points along with seven boards and four steals.

Monache's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for El Diamante, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.

Monache didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 73-33 victory against Redwood on the 9th. As for El Diamante, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 69-23 win against Mt. Whitney on the 9th.
