Basketball Recap: Samantha Miller Key Part of a Team Effort in Big Macs Win

Canon-McMillan hadn't done well against Mt. Lebanon recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Canon-McMillan Big Macs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-51 win over the Mt. Lebanon Blue Devils. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Big Macs' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 39th).

Canon-McMillan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Samantha Miller, who posted 18 points and five rebounds. That's the most points Miller has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lauren Borella, who put up 13 points and five assists.

Canon-McMillan was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

Canon-McMillan now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Mt. Lebanon, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-4.

Canon-McMillan will venture away from home to take on Hempfield Area at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Mt. Lebanon, they will host Norwin at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
