Leavenworth extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping them up to 3-1. They enjoyed a cozy 43-29 victory over the Shawnee Heights Thunderbirds. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Leavenworth's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Braden Bridger led the charge by throwing for 232 yards and five TDs on only 17 passes, while also rushing for 79 yards on only 11 carries. Another player making a difference was Ja`Marion Jefferson, who picked up 72 receiving yards and four scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Leavenworth was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 264 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shawnee Heights only rushed for 99.

Shawnee Heights' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. The PIONEERS will be up against the Pirates' rather soft defense (which has allowed 33 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Shawnee Heights, they will square off against De Soto at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Thunderbirds will need to watch out since the Wildcats have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
