Baseball Recap: Biggs Snags Eighth Win in Last Nine Games

The third road match was the charm for Biggs, as they earned their first away win of the season. They were the clear victors by a 17-4 margin over the Lindhurst Blazers on Wednesday. Considering the Wolverines have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Brady Smith was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Biggs: the team is 11-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, Collin Beck was a standout: he went 1-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of David Ibarra, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Biggs kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 10-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Biggs is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lindhurst, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-14.

Looking ahead, Biggs will welcome Maxwell at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolverines are on a seven-game streak of home wins, the Panthers a four-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind. As for Lindhurst, they will host Western Sierra Collegiate Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Blazers will need to watch out since the Wolves have now posted at least ten runs in their last seven matchups.
