Foothill is 8-2 against Monte Vista since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Falcons will be playing at home against the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Foothill took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They had just enough and edged out San Ramon Valley 4-3.
George Schmitt made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2025.
In other pitching news, Ryan Cooney tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Hudson Flora, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in May of 2025. Matteo Minnite was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Foothill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Monte Vista entered their tilt with Dublin on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Gaels, sneaking past 6-4. That's two games straight that the Mustangs have won by exactly two runs.
Foothill's victory bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Monte Vista, their win bumped their record up to 13-6.
Everything went Foothill's way against Monte Vista in their previous meeting back in March of 2025, as Foothill made off with an 11-1 victory. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
