Porter was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight  defeat. They took  a  3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Weslaco East Wildcats. The Cowboys were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won  3-1.
 While Porter had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 20 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-21, 19-25, 25-21,  25-20.
 Despite the  loss, Porter saw an underclassman step up: sophomore  Yeomara Rodriguez  had 12  assists and six  digs.  Sky Mora also deserves some recognition as  she  served her first  ace of the season.
Porter's defeat dropped their record down to 13-21. As for Weslaco East,  with the  victory, they broke their seven-match losing streak and moved their record to 5-20.
 We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Porter is set to  face off against  their familiar foe Harlingen South  at 7:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Weslaco East will  take on  rival Donna North  at 7:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
