Basketball Game Preview: Palm Springs Indians vs. Xavier Prep Saints

Palm Springs hasn't had much luck against Xavier Prep recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Palm Springs Indians are taking a road trip to challenge the Xavier Prep Saints at 4:00 p.m. Palm Springs will be strutting in after a victory while Xavier Prep will be coming in after a loss.

Palm Springs will head into Monday's match on the come-up: they were handed a 33-point defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 51-49 win over La Quinta.

Palm Springs got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Shayla Bates out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. What's more, Bates also racked up three assists, the most she's had since back in November of 2023. Aja Walker was another key player, putting up 15 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Xavier Prep had to suffer through a 68-26 loss at the hands of Shadow Hills. While losing is never fun, the Saints can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 672nd, while the Knights are ranked 77th).

Xavier Prep has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season. As for Palm Springs, their record is now 15-9.

Palm Springs came up short against Xavier Prep in their previous meeting two weeks ago, falling 32-24. Can Palm Springs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
