Even though the River Valley Falcons scored an imposing 63 points on Friday, the River City Raiders still came out on top. River City took their contest against River Valley 70-63. That result was just more of the same for these two, as River City also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2021.
River City's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nickolas Rodriguez, who scored 24 points. Those 24 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Tomas Montoya, who scored 17 points.
Despite the loss, River Valley still got an impressive performance from Tayvione Brown, who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds. The matchup was Brown's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Tarun Nijjar was another key contributor, scoring four points along with 11 assists.
River City's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for River Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10.
River City and Union Mine will face off at 5:30 p.m. on December 27th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Union Mine's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. River Valley will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Inderkum at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Inderkum presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than River Valley in California (Inderkum is ranked 115th, while River Valley is ranked 723rd).
