Corona had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.3 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They walked away with a 52-42 win over the Palm Desert Aztecs. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by exactly ten points.

Corona got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ava Liaga out in front who went 6 for 12 on her way to 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Flores, who posted 16 points and six rebounds.

Despite the loss, Palm Desert saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Katelyn Gallagher had 17 points and three steals. Gallagher is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 33 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Jizelle Roman, who put up eight points and ten rebounds.

Corona has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. As for Palm Desert, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.

Corona didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 48-34 win against South Hills on the 4th. As for Palm Desert, they will venture away from home to take on La Quinta at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
