Berthoud is 7-1 against Northridge since August of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Spartans will host the Grizzlies at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Saturday, Berthoud got the win against Timnath by a conclusive 20-2. The victory continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Cubs: they've now won six in a row.
Chloe Sadar-Holmes made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in August.
In other batting news, Berthoud got a massive performance out of Camryn Olivas, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs Olivas has posted over her last ten games. The team also got some help courtesy of Alana Lukensow, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Berthoud always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Northridge, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Mountain View a 15-0 shutout on Saturday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Grizzlies needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
Northridge's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Berthoud, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8.
Everything went Berthoud's way against Northridge in their previous meeting last Thursday, as Berthoud made off with a 9-1 win. Do the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Grizzlies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
