The Lynwood Knights scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They came out on top against Long Beach Poly by a score of 73-65. The win made it back-to-back wins for Lynwood.
Taliyah Mcferson was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Shanilah Ewing, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, Long Beach Poly still got an impressive performance from Bailey Prewitt, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 16 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Andrea Perkins, who scored 18 points along with two steals.
Even though they lost, Long Beach Poly were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lynwood only racked up five assists.
Lynwood now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Long Beach Poly, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.
Lynwood will head out on the road to challenge Gahr at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Gahr will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 317th, while Lynwood is ranked 63rd). As for Long Beach Poly, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Woodrow Wilson at 5:30 p.m.
