The North Providence Cougars will head out on the road to  challenge  the Johnston Panthers at 6:00  p.m.  on Saturday. North Providence is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
 On Thursday, North Providence beat Burrillville 4-1.
  Vincent Pontarelli spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't  pitched less than seven  innings in five consecutive pitching appearances.
 At the plate,  Michael Allard was  excellent,  scoring a  run and  stealing four bases while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances.
 Meanwhile,  after a string of four wins, Johnston's good fortune finally ran out  on Thursday. They fell  8-3 to Chariho.
  Emmanuel Rios was a  force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he  didn't allow a single  earned run over five innings pitched.
 On the hitting side,  Kevin Biscelli was cooking despite his team's loss,   scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while  getting on base  in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was  Christopher Civetti, who  scored two  runs while going 2-for-3.
 North Providence's victory bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Johnston, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.
 North Providence was able to grind out a solid  win over Johnston in their previous meeting  back in May of 2023, winning  8-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Providence since the  team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
