Eagle Valley has gone a perfect 4-0 against Battle Mountain recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Devils will take on the Huskies at 3:00 p.m. Eagle Valley is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
Things were looking good for Eagle Valley after they put the first run on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They came up short against Palisade, falling 17-11. While the Devils didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bulldogs 4-0 in the first period.
Meanwhile, Battle Mountain can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They blew past Aspen 23-0. The matchup marked the Huskies' most dominant victory of the season.
Ellie Rella made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Rella was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Battle Mountain let Addison Smith and Harper Jimenez Anders run wild. Smith went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs, while Jimenez Anders went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. That's the most hits Jimenez Anders has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Perla Chavez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Battle Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .719. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Aspen only posted an OBP of .273.
The win got Battle Mountain back to even at 7-7. As for Eagle Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12-1.
Eagle Valley took their victory against Battle Mountain in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 15-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
