The Heartland Lutheran Red Hornets lost against the Central Valley Cougars back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The contest between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with Heartland Lutheran falling 46-29. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Heartland Lutheran had strong showings from Ema Koch, who scored 11 points, and Aubree Fisket, who scored five points along with five steals. Koch continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aryka Keiper, who scored two points along with two steals and two blocks.
Central Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Callie Wadas, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds. Cayle Grossart was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Heartland Lutheran has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Central Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.
Heartland Lutheran won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against St. Edward at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. St. Edward is no doubt hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses. As for Central Valley, they will head out on the road to square off against Anselmo-Merna at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
