The Riverside Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Blue Ridge Raiders at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Riverside beat Mid Valley 40-35. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Riverside.
Meanwhile, Blue Ridge came tearing into Monday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 77-65 victory over Susquehanna. Given Blue Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 250th, while Susquehanna is ranked 632nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Riverside's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. As for Blue Ridge, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Riverside against Blue Ridge when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 73-42 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Riverside since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
