Nanwalek lost against the Birchwood Christian Warriors last Thursday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Nanwalek fell to Birchwood Christian 36-30.
Birchwood Christian was led to victory by Noah Guderian and Karsten Wetzel. Guderian scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Wetzel scored nine points along with five steals. Guderian is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Kaleb Worland was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.
Nanwalek now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Birchwood Christian, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
Nanwalek will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cook Inlet Academy at 5:30 p.m. on February 12th. As for Birchwood Christian, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Walter Northway at 3:30 p.m. on January 13th. Walter Northway is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
