Baseball Recap: Mountain View Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

There's no place like home for Mountain View, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Homestead Mustangs by a score of 8-3 on Friday. The win was some much needed relief for the Spartans as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Brennan Dooley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on ten hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Zander Yocum was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three doubles, and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025. Preston Huang was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Mountain View was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Mountain View's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 3-9. As for Homestead, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.

Coming up, Mountain View will welcome Santa Clara at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans are facing the Bruins at the right time seeing as the Bruins are stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Homestead, they will head out to face off against Santa Teresa at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Saints have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season.
