This season hasn't been kind to the Philipsburg-Osceola Mountaineers, who are still winless after their sixth matchup. They lost to Bald Eagle Area at home by a decisive 43-27 margin on Friday. Philipsburg-Osceola lost against Bald Eagle Area in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 49-22 score last time.
Philipsburg-Osceola's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Khendyl Sharrer, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Maddy Malinich, who scored seven points.
Philipsburg-Osceola's defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-6. As for Bald Eagle Area, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Philipsburg-Osceola will finish 2023 at home by hosting Curwensville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Curwensville comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Bald Eagle Area will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Bellwood-Antis at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
