The Pleasant Grove Eagles struggled with threes on Monday (the Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Pleasant Grove fell 47-34 to Cosumnes Oaks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Pleasant Grove of the 56-43 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
When it comes to explaining why Pleasant Grove lost, one person who can't be blamed is Marissa Perkins. Despite the final result, she scored ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals. It was the first time this season that Perkins pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Leila Williamson, who scored four points along with 12 rebounds.
Cosumnes Oaks was led to victory by Caitlin Subejano and Isabel Tan. Subejano scored 19 points along with five steals, while Tan scored 19 points along with three steals. Subejano has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kym Hartman, who scored two points along with five rebounds and four blocks.
Pleasant Grove now has a losing record at 12-13. As for Cosumnes Oaks, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season.
Pleasant Grove will be playing at home against Davis Sr. at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Davis Sr. is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.4 points per game this season. As for Cosumnes Oaks, they will head out on the road to face off against Franklin at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Cosumnes Oaks comes in on three and Franklin on five.
