Ashford has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge The Northside Methodist Academy Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (Ashford is ranked 285th, while Northside Methodist Academy is ranked 287th).
Last Friday, Ashford was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 30-26 to New Brockton.
Despite their defeat, Ashford saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Braylon Bigham, who rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown, was perhaps the best of all. Bigham was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 60 yards. Tylan Peterman also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Northside Methodist Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Straughn, falling 56-21. That's two games in a row now that Northside Methodist Academy has lost by exactly 35 points.
Ashford's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Northside Methodist Academy, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-6.
Ashford couldn't quite finish off Northside Methodist Academy in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 and fell 31-28. Can Ashford avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
