Sunset is 1-9 against Kimball since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Sunset Bison will be playing in front of their home fans against the Kimball Knights at 7:30 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Sunset has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Kimball will arrive with four straight wins.
While Sunset couldn't quite beat Molina on Wednesday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 57-point loss they were dealt on Friday. Sunset fell just short of Molina by a score of 47-44. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Sunset has suffered yet this season.
Meanwhile, even though South Oak Cliff scored an imposing 59 points on Wednesday, Kimball still came out on top. Kimball enjoyed a cozy 73-59 win over South Oak Cliff.
Kimball can attribute much of their success to Marri Wickware, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds, and Jaylon Dean-vines, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Dean-vines pulled down eight or more rebounds. Rico Aguilar was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Sunset's defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Kimball, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-11.
Sunset took a serious blow against Kimball in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 89-11. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Sunset was down 57-9.
