The San Diego Cavers lost against the Mira Mesa Marauders on January 5th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. San Diego lost to Mira Mesa at home by a decisive 48-32 margin. San Diego has not had much luck with Mira Mesa recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
San Diego lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Lara Saucedo, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Saucedo hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for eight straight games. Mackenzie Nitzel was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 13 rebounds.
Mira Mesa was led to victory by Alyssa Otero and Ivorii Seals. Otero scored 13 points along with six rebounds, while Seals dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Seals has scored at least a third of Mira Mesa's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Hall, who scored four points along with five rebounds.
San Diego now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Mira Mesa, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-9.
San Diego will stay at home for another game and welcome Lincoln at 6:15 p.m. on January 30th. Lincoln comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Mira Mesa's road trip will continue as they head out to face Point Loma at 6:15 p.m. on January 30th.
