Longmont had lost nine straight, but after bumping their record up to 5-10-1 on Saturday that streak is in the rearview. They put the hurt on the Fairview Knights with a sharp 18-9 victory. With that win, the Trojans brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.
Sophie Magley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and six unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Longmont got a massive performance out of Alex McGregor, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs McGregor has posted since back in August of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sydnee Conway, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI.
Longmont always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .651. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
As for Fairview, they dropped their record down to 6-6 with the loss, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 6.3 runs this season.
On Fairview's side, Julia Savage led a balanced group of hitters, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Bryant, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Longmont will welcome Broomfield at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so the Trojans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Fairview, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Silver Creek at 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raptors have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
