Softball Recap: Lamar County Makes It Four in a Row at Home

Lamar County had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Putnam County on Tuesday. The Trojans were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the War Eagles. Considering the Trojans have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Lamar County pushed their record up to 12-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Putnam County, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Lamar County will face off against rival Social Circle at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Trojans 2.6, the Redskins 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Putnam County is set to challenge their familiar foe Jasper County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
