The San Domenico Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Stuart Hall Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. San Domenico has given up an average of 9.7 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
San Domenico lost 16-1 to University on Friday. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
San Domenico saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Oliver Bennett, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Stuart Hall put another one in the bag last Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Athenian with a sharp 12-2 win. Considering the Knights have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ryder Anderson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Anderson was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Anderson is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.
In other batting news, Marshall Williamson and Alex Heinicke did most of the damage at the plate: Williamson went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Heinicke went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Williamson continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Gutierrez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Stuart Hall's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for San Domenico, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. San Domenico has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Stuart Hall struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
San Domenico might still be hurting after the 17-0 loss they got from Stuart Hall in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
