The Union Mine Diamondbacks suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They suffered a rough 58-33 defeat at the hands of Liberty Ranch. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Union Mine in their matchups with Liberty Ranch: they've now lost six in a row.
Union Mine lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kyra Wooden, who scored nine points along with two steals and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamdyn Keeler, who scored seven points.
Liberty Ranch found their leader in underclassman Haley Smith, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Summer Mccoy was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Union Mine's loss dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Liberty Ranch, they pushed their record up to 19-5 with that win, which was their 15th straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union Mine on the road again on Friday and play against Rosemont at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. As for Liberty Ranch, they will challenge Bradshaw Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bradshaw Christian has now lost 15 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 27.
