They came out on top against Gaston Christian by a score of 44-37. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Northside Christian Academy has scored all year.
Arael Jones was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Cowan, who scored eight points.
Gaston Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cameron Newman, who scored 13 points. Newman scored a full 35.1% of Gaston Christian's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Makoi Mabor Marier, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and four blocks.
Gaston Christian struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Northside Christian Academy has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Gaston Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.
