The Jefferson County Tigers had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They slipped by South Delta 67-66 on Tuesday. The victory was just what Jefferson County needed coming off of a 78-19 defeat in their prior match.
When it comes to explaining why South Delta lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jamichael Green. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 27 points and 15 rebounds. The matchup was Green's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ahmani Lee, who scored 20 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 blocks.
Jefferson County's victory bumped their record up to 1-4. As for South Delta, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jefferson County's road trip will continue as they head out to face Natchez at 7:15 p.m. on December 8th. Natchez presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Jefferson County in Mississippi (Natchez is ranked 81st, while Jefferson County is ranked 255th). As for South Delta, they will head out on the road to face off against Port Gibson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
