Mission Hills extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 10-16 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the El Camino Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, with their most recent defeat being a 5-4 loss on Thursday.

Micah Mecucci was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Mission Hills' success: when he posts at least one home run the team is 4-1 (and 6-15 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Davis, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.
As for El Camino, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-12. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games.
On El Camino's side, Zane Nordquist made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Nordquist has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Isaiah Saldivar was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Charlie Orman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Coming up, Mission Hills will welcome San Pasqual at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for El Camino, they will head out on the road to face off against Sage Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bobcats' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
