The Oakwood Comets will challenge the Iroquois West Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Oakwood will be strutting in after a victory while Iroquois West will be coming in after a defeat.
On Thursday, Oakwood was fully in charge, breezing past Hoopeston/Armstrong 42-14. The result was nothing new for the Comets, who have now won three games by 28 points or more so far this season.

Kyler Johnson produced another solid effort rushing for 176 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in October of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Huchel, who rushed for 118 yards and one TD on only nine carries.
Oakwood's run defense was locked in: Hoopeston/Armstrong could only muster 2.6 yards per carry. The team can thank Sailer Harrison for the heroic effort on defense: he. Oakwood didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 13.1.

Meanwhile, Iroquois West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 20-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman. While the Raiders didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Buffaloes 6-0 in the first quarter.
Oakwood will have to contain Christian Gaytan as he made an impact in Iroquois West's last game. He rushed for 146 yards and one score, and also picked up 43 receiving yards.
Oakwood's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Iroquois West, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Oakwood has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 388.8 total yards per game. It's a different story for Iroquois West, though, as they've been averaging only 163.8 total yards. Will Oakwood be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will the Raiders flip the script?
