The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Mustangs as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.
Not much got past Ethan Smith, who gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Concord off the board. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Smith.
At the plate, Harrison Law was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron LaRosa, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Monte Vista's win bumped their record up to 3-12. As for Concord, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.
Monte Vista will venture away from home to take on California at 4:00 p.m. on the 16th. As for Concord, they will host Berean Christian at 4:00 p.m. on the 15th.
