Times Squared Academy had lost eight straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 0-18 to make it nine. They came up short against the Blackstone Valley Prep PRIDE, falling 21-2. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the PRIDE this season, with their most recent loss being a 10-0 defeat on Thursday.
Times Squared Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jon Cruz, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That run marked the first that Cruz has scored this season.
As for Blackstone Valley Prep, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-8. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Blackstone Valley Prep's side, Alex Torres made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Torres has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Blackstone Valley Prep's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 6-7 when he doesn't).
In other pitching news, Noah Ferreira looked comfortable as he went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Blackstone Valley Prep: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise.
Back at the plate, Blackstone Valley Prep got a massive performance out of Sidney Lockhart, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those four hits gave Lockhart a new career-high. Jolihan Perez was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.
As of now, neither Times Squared Academy nor Blackstone Valley Prep have any future games scheduled.
