Carlmont and Burlingame are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Scots will venture away from home to take on the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Carlmont will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
On Saturday, Carlmont needed a bit of extra time to put away Hillsdale. They had just enough and edged out the Knights 3-2. Three seems to be a good number for the Scots as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Nathan Werbinski made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. Carlmont is undefeated when Werbinski allows one or fewer earned runs, but 7-11 otherwise. Werbinski was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.
In other pitching news, Carlmont gave Ryan Kelly the start and clearly made the right call: he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Werbinski wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Attard, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Burlingame challenged Santa Cruz on Saturday. The Panthers fell 14-9 to the Cardinals. The Panthers' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Preet Mallen stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Intrieri, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
The victory got Carlmont back to even at 11-11. As for Burlingame, their loss dropped their record down to 14-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Carlmont has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Burlingame struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Carlmont was able to grind out a solid win over Burlingame when the teams last played back in May of 2025, winning 8-4. Do the Scots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
