St. John scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They took an 89-75 bruising from the Mathews Mustangs. The Fighting Herald haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.

St. John's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Mathews, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.

St. John has already played their next match, a 58-28 win against Chalker on the 21st. Mathews and Kennedy Catholic will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Mathews knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Kennedy Catholic likes a good challenge.
