After both having extra time off, the Casa Roble Rams and the Sutter Huskies will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Casa Roble will be strutting in after a victory while Sutter will be coming in after a loss.
Casa Roble picked up another tournament win last Saturday. They secured a 53-47 W over Del Campo.
Casa Roble got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lily Benevent out in front who posted 16 points in addition to seven boards and six assists. Another player making a difference was Paisley Canady, who put up 12 points in addition to seven steals and five assists.
Casa Roble smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Sutter suffered their biggest defeat since November 27th last Saturday. They were dealt a 77-44 loss at the hands of Faith Christian. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 484th, while the Lions are ranked 196th).
Casa Roble will have to contain Torrence Harter as she made an impact in Sutter's last game. She dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards. Harter has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 43 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sydney Meagher, who posted nine points.
Casa Roble now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Sutter, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Casa Roble has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 31.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Sutter struggles in that department as they've been averaging 37.1 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Casa Roble came up short against Sutter in their previous meeting back in December of 2017, falling 49-40. Can Casa Roble avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
